CARE - CUT CYMBIDIUM ORCHIDS

To retain the cymbidium's radiance for up to two weeks, follow these healthful hints.

Unpack the flowers immediately. If they arrive with water tubes, you may prop them upright until you are ready to use them. There is no need to cut and put them in water right away.
Some vendors pack them in wet cotton to retain moisture, if so you will want to proceed to the next step right away.
When you are ready to make your arrangements, fill a container with fresh, cool water, preferably with a floral preseravative.
Trim up to 1/2 to 1 ince inch off the bottom of the stems. A diagonal cut is best to facilitate water uptake.
Immediately after cutting, place the stems in your prepared container.
If your cymbidiums appear to be wilted upon unpacking, simply submerge whole spray for 10 to 15 minutes in cool tap water.
Re-cut stems and change water every 2 or 3 days to prolong vase life.
Remove dying blooms daily.
Keep flowers away from extended time in temperatures above 80 degrees F and below 40 degrees F. Holding Cymbidiums for more than a week at temperatures below 45 degrees can cause blooms to discolor or drop.
Keep your cymbidiums away from direct sunlight and drafts.
Cymbidium orchids are slightly sensitive to ethylene. To avoid ethylene buildup, you'll want to ensure adequate ventilation and sanitary conditions.
